Rock Tumbling Lake Superior Agate – Process & Techniques

This is one in a series of Rock Tumbling “How-To” videos that I have been posting on YouTube. This video features me tumbling Lake Superior Agate! Lake Superior Agate is a member of the agate family that is often found on the shores of Lake Superior. Agates are often multi-colored, banded and semi-translucent. A batch of Lake Superior Agate can produce a wide array of gorgeous varieties which are a delight to look at during the tumbling process. Lake Superior Agate is Mohs hardness 7, so it is very durable in the tumbler. You will need to have some patience during the course stage to ensure that they have just the right shape and smoothness before you move them on to medium – Lake Superior Agate is an Beginner to Intermediate level project.
