Calcite is one of the most common minerals on this Earth. Given its ability to cleanse and purify, I consider that a good thing for the population of the Earth. Calcite is often used as an acid neutralizer and high quality calcite is also used in antacid medications. This crystal is also fairly soft and delicate, so should be handled with care.

Historical Significance of Green Calcite

The name is derived from the Latin word for ‘lime’ – calx. Limestone is made up primarily of Calcite.
