We are approaching the next Full Moon on Monday, June 17th. This is a perfect opportunity for you to work with your gemstones and crystals during a very energetic time of the month. This post will describe some practices you can perform with your gems each Full or New Moon cycle.
Full and New Moons offer an intense and powerful source of energy to fuel your intentions and personal energy. Crystals and gemstones can amplify your rituals and intention setting during this potent time. I’ll start with a very basic practice that you can do during both Full and New Moons.
General Practice = Crystal Charging
The energy of the moon phases is an excellent opportunity to cleanse and charge your most frequently used crystals. I place my crystals on a plate covered with a nice cloth and put them in a safe area of my yard in full view of the sky. By “safe” I mean somewhere someone won’t see them and take them, on an unstable table where they might get knocked over by the wind, or family members don’t step on them if they go outside during the night. Just let the gemstones soak in the energy all evening long. It may seem that the absence of moonlight on the New Moon may indicate a lack of energy, but that is not true. Strong energy still flows from the moon over Earth and will effectively cleanse and charge your crystals.
New Moon Energy: The New Moon is a time of new beginnings and inviting in what you want to manifest. The Moon is about to blossom and display its beauty and amazing potential. This is a time for calling up desires and manifesting visions. New Moon energy is great for initiating a project or planting seeds of intention. The key word for New Moon Energy is “Manifest”
New Moon Practice: This is a very simple, but effective ritual. The tools I use are a small notebook and pen, candles, matches or lighter, and gemstones. I sit directly on the ground with a small table in front of me. You could also use a board on the ground – something that candles can sit stably. Light the candles on the table. Settle into a still, meditative state. While in this state, reflect on the intentions you want to set for the coming weeks. Let the intentions flow, form, and become clearer and detailed. Start writing the intentions in the notebook. Tear out the pages, set them on the table and cover with your gemstones. The crystals will gather the moon energy and amplify the intentions on the papers. Sit in quiet stillness as long as you like.
When you feel finished, blow out the candles, but leave the papers and crystals on the table through the night to gather as much energy as possible. In the morning, collect your papers and store them in a box, bag, or envelope for review later during the Full Moon.
**Just a note that you can perform any New Moon ritual and enhance it with gemstones that enhance the particular theme of the ritual, such as the following stones…
Stones for Manifesting: Labradorite, Carnelian, Citrine, Fluorite, Green Aventurine
Stones for New Beginnings: Mookaite, Kambaba Jasper, Picasso Jasper, Bumblebee Jasper
Full Moon Energy: The Full Moon is a time of completion and releasing what is blocking you from manifesting. What you have nurtured and has grown is now ready to harvest, and you can gather the fruits of your efforts. This is a time to amplify and magnify the intentions you set at New Moon. This cycle marks turning points, manifestations or closure. This is an optimal time to make decisions about your next step of your journey. It is also the best time to let go of attachments and things that no longer serve us. The key word for Full Moon Energy is “Release”
Full Moon Practice: This ritual is a little more complex, but can be powerfully cathartic and leave you feeling very free. The tools I use are a bowl that is fire safe, matches or a lighter, a bottle of water (for fire safety), small notebook and pen, your previous intention papers, candles, and gemstones. I sit directly on the ground with a small table in front of me. You could also use a board on the ground – something that the candles and your fire bowl can sit stably. Place your fire bowl in the middle of the table. Place and light your candles. Sit for a few minutes holding your box of intention papers to quiet and still your mind and energy.
Draw out one intention paper from the box. Read it and let it settle. Ask yourself if the intention is complete (or no longer relevant) and needs to be released? Or does it need more growth. Place those that should be released in one pile covered with a gemstone of Release. Cover the growth intentions with a stone of Manifestation. Consider if you need to make any major life decisions right now. If so, write it down on a piece of paper. Place it on the table and cover with a stone for Decision.
Pick up the intentions that are ready to be released. Light each one in the candle fire and place in the fire bowl. Hold the gemstone for release and imagine the intention drifting away on the wind. Express appreciation for what has manifested for you and your are sending out into the Universe. Sit in quiet stillness as long as you like.
When you feel finished, blow out the candles, but leave the Manifestation and Decision papers and crystals on the table through the night to gather as much energy as possible. In the morning, collect your papers and store them in a box, bag, or envelope for review later during the next Full Moon. Be sure to reflect on the topic for decision to hear the guidance from the Universe and Spirit Guides. You should be receiving guidance very soon after the ritual, but make sure you look for the signs and open to your intuition.
**Same note that you can perform any Full Moon ritual and enhance it with gemstones that enhance the particular theme of the ritual, such as the following stones…
Stones for Release: Kambaba Jasper, Aquamarine, Picasso Jasper
Stones for Decisions: Fluorite, Lepidolite, Amber, Amethyst, Bloodstone
