Red Jasper – (Root& Sacral Chakra) – (Zodiac of Taurus)
Red Jasper is another stone that I grew up with. It was plentiful on the Oregon Coast. During our frequent weekend camping trips on the coast, my family would gather buckets of stones from the shore, bring them home, and polish them. Red Jasper made up a large majority. These memories make this stone feel a little bit like home to me.
Science – Jasper is part of the Chalcedony family, which is then a part of the Quartz family. Jasper is a common stone that comes in many varieties (yellow, green, banded, mookaite, orbicular, and many, many more!). There is a Jasper color for every Chakra!
Historical Significance – The name Jasper comes from the Greek word for “spotted stone.” There is a beautiful natural occurrence of Jasper in Venezuela called Jasper Falls. It is a waterfall that flows over an enormous bed of Red Jasper and is such a stunning sight!
Metaphysical Attributes – Red Jasper is associated with both the Root and Sacral Chakra. Its Sacral Chakra vibrations help to boost energy, passion and endurance. This is a stone that will help you get grounded in your intimate relationship and stoke the fire. If your love life has felt stagnant , routine, or non-existent, Red Jasper will help arouse desire and creativity to add an extra spark to resurrect and revitalize your sex life. Red Jasper also inspires creative ideas and gives a lift of energy when you are feeling tired.
A lesser known, but highly useful, benefit of Red Jasper is its ability to inspire a sense of responsibility and action. This is the stone that supports in getting the job done. It helps to organize busy lives and provides the motivation and determination to move projects toward completion. Even after the work of the project has become mundane, it provides persistence to keep working. This gemstone can help us see the big picture to decide how best to achieve what you need and which commitments you need to release to attain balance. If you are having trouble with work/life balance, Red Jasper is a calming, nurturing stone that gives us the strength to define and enforce our boundaries.
This is a protection stone and assists during danger and rescue scenarios. This is a useful stone to keep in a car to ward off accidents and road rage, or to cope with those scenarios if they occur. Red Jasper helps rectifiy unjust situations, so it is useful to carry during legal appointments or negotiations. This stone also brings to our attention to situations that can become out of hand and gives you insight into how to manage them.
Physical Effects – Red Jasper is said to increase sexual vitality and fertility.
Practice Mantras – Sit in seated meditation, holding the Red Jasper in your less dominant hand to receive its energy. Really feel the support of the cushion or floor beneath you. You are grounded and supported by the Earth’s energies. Imagine glowing embers in the ground underneath you. Its red warmth and heat flow upward as provide energy all the up your body. Repeat these words. “I am Safe. I am Inspired. I am ready to Take Action.”
Alternately, hold a Red Jasper mala and chant this mantra 108 times.
